From 1984 to 1987 he begins to work as an apprentice to theatrical designer and maker in the Teatro alla Scala atelier, at that time located in the Bovisa district, under the guidance of maestro Giorgio Cristini. He works as well in other theaters amongst which Teatro Pierlombardo (Franco Parenti), Teatro di Porta Romana and many others covering different roles: set design assistant, toolmaker, light technician, sound technician and stage director.
In 1987 he gets hired as a toolroom truck driver for the shooting of "Kamikaze", a movie directed by a young Gabriele Salvatores. At the end of the shooting Gian Maurizio Fercioni, the production designer, commissions him the making of three models for "Il Cavaliere della Rosa" by Richard Strauss that will later debut at the Aix-en-Provence Festival.
Marco aces the test and collaborates with him for the next five years as the sole assistant, taking part in various installations situated in some of the most prestigious Opera Theaters around Europe (Lyon, Saint Étienne, Aix-en-Provence, Nice, Strasbourg, Bremen, Lucerne, Bologna, ecc...) as well as in various Prose Theaters such as: Teatro Pierlombardo (Franco Parenti), Teatro dell'Elfo, Teatro di Porta Romana, Sala Fontana and others working with numerous directors amongst which Andrèe Ruth Shammah, Gabriele Salvatores, Elio de Capitani, Angelo Longoni.
His experience with Gian Maurizio is not confined to theaters, they produce also scenery for the Lucio Dalla and Gianni Morandi travelling show / concert in 1988; they are also charged of re-designing the interior spaces of Coin department store in Milano.
They also shoot numerous commercial movies for many italian and global production companies in the golden age of the "Milano da bere", when commercials were the best training ground for creating major scenographic constructions.
1991: now Marco is ready to take the helm without sparing himself. With the passion and enthusiasm that characterize him, he dives in the stunning sea of scenography, and he is still there sailing.
Fast forward >>| Today Marco is known for his massive cinematographic production as well as television works, music video clips, fashion events, over 200 commercials and he often tap into his past experience in the theater world.
On his path (while studying at NABA, precisely) he met Anna Ranci Ortigosa. Married for years, they work together on several projects and share the same passion and energy for envisioning spaces, making up atmospheres and building new worlds.

“Marco is not only an extraordinary teacher but he's also a person of great humanity. Attending his lessons taught me a lot, while giving me the opportunity to deal directly with a great professional"
